Punch WebGroups Goes Live on LivePlan.com
Leading Business Plan Software Adds File Collaboration Service to Suite of Tools
SEATTLE, Wa, July 18, 2000 - Punch Networks, a pioneer in Web-based file collaboration services has partnered with Palo Alto Software, developers of Business Plan Pro software. Palo Alto will offer a co-branded version of Punch's Web file collaboration service, Punch WebGroups, to its 500,000 Business Plan Pro customers, allowing them to collaborate on the business plans they build using Palo Alto's software.

Punch WebGroups is a secure file storage and collaboration service, which includes version tracking, audit trails, access controls and change notification. The service gives users anytime, anywhere access to their personal and shared files. Importantly, Punch's patented technology automatically notifies users when files change or are updated, then sends only the changes between file versions, rather than the whole file, ensuring the fastest possible uploads and downloads. Small and medium sized businesses currently use WebGroups as a virtual private network for file collaboration with employees, partners and customers, as well as for backup and offsite data storage needs.

"One key to writing a successful business plan is to get the ideas and thoughts of others," says Tim Berry, founder and president of Palo Alto Software and a business-planning expert. "With LivePlan.com, you can have your plan read-no matter what stage it is in-by the people you select. What we're doing," explains Berry, "is making it possible to share a plan with bankers, investors and your own management team, far easier than ever before."

The service, which will be called LivePlan WebGroups, will be tightly integrated into the LivePlan workflow. Users first create their business plan using Business Plan Pro 4.0, then login to their LivePlan account. To share the business plan with advisors and others, they simply create a WebGroup and upload the document. Others in the WebGroup can make edits or changes to the business plan, then publish a new version. "Palo Alto Software's LivePlan.comTM site is all about helping connect people with business plans," said the president and CEO of Punch. "Their core focus matches ours - to use the Web to create secure collaborative platforms that increase business productivity. The combination of WebGroups and LivePlan will create a complete solution."

"It is a privilege to offer Palo Alto Software's business planning expertise in conjunction with the impressive technology of Punch WebGroups," says Berry.. "Palo Alto Software's planning resources have proven invaluable to enable this group to realize their business planning goals. This exciting relationship will now allow us to further add to the value we offer the business community through these innovative web-based resources."
