What is Punch WebGroups?

What is a WebGroup
A WebGroup is an ultra-secure shared folder on the World Wide Web that you can set up within minutes to share any kind of files with anyone on the Internet. Within a WebGroup you can create as many sub folders you would like, and then upload as many files as you want into those folders. After you have uploaded files from your local hard drive into a WebGroup, our servers will keep track of those files. Later, if you modify one of those files on your local hard drive, you can open your Web Browser again and update the copy of that file in your WebGroup with one click. When anyone else you have invited to join that WebGroup updates a file, you will be sent an e-mail notifying you that it has been updated, including a URL link so that you can automatically update your local file to the most current version. Once files are uploaded into Punch WebGroups, they are available from any web capable device that supports HTML.

Why are they called WebGroups?
The reason we call these folders "WebGroups" is to emphasize that each root folder can be assigned a unique group of members. Inviting someone to one WebGroup does not allow him or her to see all of your other WebGroups. You control the authority levels that determine what features are available to each member. We have several levels of authority including:

  • "Manage" or Read/Write/Delete
  • "Publish" or Read/Write
  • "Subscribe" or Read Only
  • "Limited" or no authority (member cannot see or interact with the item or its contents)
You set each member's default authority for files and folders within a WebGroup when you invite the member to the Webgroup. You can then adjust each member's authority on a file-by-file or folder-by-folder basis. Our authority policies, which have been refined over several years based upon direct customer feedback, provide a great deal of flexibility and control over your WebGroups: from simple access for someone who just wants to share a photo, to advanced granular control by business, legal, and administrative users.
